Physio Gym Pilates is offered at all levels, from beginners to advanced, and for the purpose of rehabilitation. The sessions are supervised using the Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair or Barrels. Our physios can also use Real time ultrasound to enhance your understanding of how to use your core muscles, and can apply their knowledge of body mechanics and manual therapy to guide your experience.
Physio Gym Pilates for beginners
Learn the basics of core muscle activation and spinal movement. Over a ten week period you’ll build up your confidence using a reformer with basic spinal control, and learn how to use the spine in neutral, the Pilates C position, and in extension.
Physio Gym Pilates for intermediate to advanced
The basic spinal positions are challenged further, with a focus on your ability to move the spine through different spinal ranges, with control on the Reformer, Wunda Chair, Cadillac and Barrel. You’ll also perform more weight-bearing, inverted or end-of-range exercises at cardio speed.
Physio Gym Pilates for back pain
We employ physiotherapy techniques using Pilates equipment for chronic back pain, mechanical back pain and simple disc bulges, with great success. Programs are specifically designed based on the presenting pathology, and your capacity to exercise. Physios can also use Real time ultrasound to show you your stabilising muscles, and demonstrate how they should be used.
Physio Gym Pilates following knee surgery
Following an ACL reconstruction, knee-joint replacement or tibial transfer for recurrent knee dislocations, the Reformer and Wunda Chair are excellent for a graded quadricep, hamstring and calf-strengthening program. If you’re about to go in for surgery, book in for pre-operative exercises for a better outcome.
Physio Gym Pilates for ankle injuries
Our Pilates equipment exercises are conducted barefoot, to enable the physio to teach you ankle and foot control. This approach is ideal for ankle ligament sprains, achilles reconstruction surgery, planterfascitits and neuromas.
Physio Gym Pilates for sports
Create a competitive edge with sports-specific programs developed by our physios using Pilates equipment. We’ve developed programs for international cricketers, rowers, speed skaters and basketball players, and we also hold regular pre-season training sessions for local football and rugby clubs .
Physio Gym Pilates for dance
Dancers can use our Pilates equipment within their repertoire, to improve control and power through range. Our environment offers the ideal environment for dancers to be trained in equipment basics, before taking regular class-based or solo sessions.
